The future of live drumming is here. It’s called Sensory Percussion, and it’s still in its start-up phase. Sensory Percussion is a set of sensors that clip onto an acoustic drum kit and allows drummers to play electronic sounds without having to switch kits. The sensors can tell how hard and where the drum is hit, and use this information to trigger different electronic sounds or effects. This opens up a world of possibilities for live drumming. Artists M.I.A and Nicholas Ley (of The Flaming Lips) are already endorsing this product. Check out the company’s Kickstarter and explanatory video.
