Prepare yourself for Apple Music. As of 11am E.T. Apple Music officially entered the music streaming market. Users will need to update their software to iOS 8.4, which will be released simultaneously with the launch. Apple Music will only be available on iOS, watchOS, Mac and Windows (Android is set to join in the fall). Tens of millions of songs will be available to users, with options for offline streaming, saved playlists, and live radio shows. Apple is offering the first three months free and then you’ll have to subscribe if you want to continue. After a lot of controversy, Apple agreed to pay artists for their music even during the free trial period, so you can listen to all your indie favorites along with music superstars (Taylor Swift included). When the trial period ends, subscriptions will cost $9.99/ month, the same as Spotify Premium. Apple execs are hoping that the millions of iTunes users they already have will help them gain a following.
