Lil Wayne escapes death but not lawsuits. Cash Money, Lil Wayne’s label, is suing Jay-Z’s company TIDAL for streaming FWA (Wayne’s most recent album). TIDAL argues that Lil Wayne agreed to give them rights to his songs in exchange for equity in the company. But despite multiple lawsuits from Wayne to cut ties with Cash Money, they still have exclusive licensing rights to his music. The TIDAL lawsuit comes just days after Cash Money’s co-founder, Birdman, was accused of conspiring to kill Lil Wayne in a tour bus shooting. You can read more about the bus shooting indictment at NOISEY. It’s unclear if Birdman’s alleged involvement in the shooting will affect his lawsuit with TIDAL.
