Fridays get even more exciting! The IFPI (the company that represents the music industry worldwide) has implemented a new schedule for releasing music to global markets, electing Friday as the chosen day. From today on, new music releases will be made globally available only on Fridays. Over 45 music markets worldwide will be affected by this change. Before, new tracks and albums have been released on different days in different countries. For example, the UK would get a track on Monday but Australia wouldn’t be able to get it until Friday. The switchover to a global release day is designed to appease frustrated fans. Hopefully this will also recreate excitement around the release of new music.
