Doppler Labs is creating earbuds that let you customize the way you hear the world around you. The audio company just raised $17 million dollars to develop these new buds, which will let you ‘equalize’ the real world. After coming out with DUBS, earplugs that lower the volume of noises around you (like music at concerts) without losing sound quality, Doppler is taking it to the next level by developing earbuds that can dampen specific kinds of sounds. They’re calling the buds ‘Here,’ and with them, you’ll be able to adjust different frequencies to block out certain noises, much like an equalizer. You’ll also be able to add effects like reverb and delay to your surrounding environment (a feature that got investors like Hans Zimmer and DJ Tiesto particularly excited). Doppler launched the initial version of the product only a month ago on KICKSTARTER, and that project has already earned 253% of its goal. But the product being offered to Kickstarter backers is only a prototype; the final version promises to be a lot better.
