Can a person be ‘too old’ for the music scene? It can definitely feel that way sometimes. A 30 year old manager might feel a strong disconnect between himself and the millenial artist he manages. Why? There are a few answers. First off, not only has the music business completely changed, but the way in which young people seek out, acquire, and digest music has also changed. Secondly, most contemporary artists cater to younger crowds, which means that even someone in their twenties is likely to feel out of place at one of these artists’ concerts. In the end, it’s possible that the passion required to devote ourselves to music is something we can’t sustain as we get older. Food for thought.
